November’s a busy one for COURAGEOUS! With lots going on at the corps, we wanted to consolidate some announcements for the month! 

As always, Coordinating Instructions (Dress, Timings, Locations, etc.) can be found on our Calendar or in the Links posted below. Weekly Tuesday training continues and dress/timings are posted on the Calendar. 

  • Sat. 02 Nov 2024 – HMCS HARRY DEWOLF TOUR;
    • The deployment provides Canadians with a unique opportunity to tour our naval ships and to learn about life in the Canadian Navy from sailors. HMCS Harry DeWolf (HDW) is visiting Windsor Ontario and we are taking part in this event on Saturday, 2 Nov, 2024.
    • Bus leaves at 0800 (8:00 AM) from HMCS PREVOST (19 Becher St),
    • Lunch and tour is provided at no cost to cadets
    • Bus returns to HMCS PREVOST at approx 5:3o PM
    • Dress: C5 – STUs (Blue Workdress) + Cadet Parka (Coat)  NOTE:  Parka exchange will be available before the bus leaves – arrive a few minutes early if you need a different sized parka and bring yours with you.
      • New Cadets will wear C5C (Ballcap, Black Shirt, Black Pants) if you have been issued them – We’ll have parkas to hand out on the bus.  Otherwise, wear comfortable clothes (jeans are fine but no rips/tears) and bring/wear a jacket/coat.
      • Reminder: As of October 25th, all Cadets and Canadian Armed Forces members are to begin wearing the Poppy on all uniforms until Remembrance Day. Directions on how and where to place the Poppy can be found in the CJCR Dress Instructions (See Figure 4A-1 – Positioning of Poppy).

 

  • Sun. 03 and 10 Nov 2024 (1300 hrs to 1600 hrs) – BIATHLON PRACTICES;
    • Our Biathlon Team is gearing up for their competition against Corps/Squadrons in the Area! 
    • The Team is comprised of the following Cadets: 
      • LC Gill, J.;
      • CPO2 Green, J.;
      • CPO2 Papreja, A.;
      • OC Peralta, L.;
      • LC Sung, S.t; and
      • PO1 Whittaker, D.

 

  • Sun. 10 Nov 2024 – PORT STANLEY REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE;
    • The Royal Canadian Legion Br 410 is holding its annual parade and service on Sunday, 10 Nov 2023.
    • The following Senior Cadets will be attending to participate and assist in Wreath Laying:
      • CPO2 Bartholomew, N.;
      • CPO2 Hammond, H.; and
      • PO1 Whittaker, D.

 

  • Mon. 11 Nov 2024 – LONDON REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE;
    • Every Remembrance Day and Veterans’ Week (November 5-11), Canadians honour those who have served our country.
    • We understand this event is scheduled during a School Day, but ask that cadets attend due to the importance of Remembrance Day in support of the Royal Canadian Legion, Canadian Veterans, and as Canadians.
    • Cadets will parade from Dundas and Waterloo (downtown near the Delta Armouries Hotel) to the Cenotaph, attend the London Ceremony and be dismissed following the parade at approximately 1:00 PM.  

 

  • Sat. 16 Nov 2024 – BIATHLON COMPETITION; and
    • Our Biathlon Team (Listed Above) will be participating in a Area wide competition, competing against Corps/Squadrons from all across Southwestern Ontario (Camp Bell,, Dorchester)

 

  • Sat/Sun 22-23 Nov 2024 – NAUTICAL TRAINING WEEKEND;
    • Cadets will learn Nautical and Naval terminology, Small Craft Operations and Safety, Seamanship skills and Naval Communications (with the opportunity to learn Communications Level Qualification Badges) at an amazing overnight nautical training weekend.
    • A parent letter with more information and a packing list will be distributed next week.
