Please come out this weekend to help us support the Navy League of Canada Fundraising event April 25 and April 26.
Further to the attached letter from our London Branch of the Navy League of Canada, below are the details for cadets and parents specific to participation:
Uniforms: Cadets are to wear C1 Uniform (white cap, tunic, white shirt) with Parka and black gloves if cold out. Cadets who do not yet have a C1 Uniform should wear their C5 Uniform (blue shirt etc.). Cadets who do not yet have either uniform can wear comfortable clothes and coat, appropriate for the weather.

What is Tagging?
Cadets will be at one of 8 locations (mainly grocery stores along Wellington Rd S) , at the main entrances to greet and accept donations from the people shopping at the location. “Tagging’ originated as the name for this fundraiser because small round ‘tags’ used to be handed out in response to donations – this year our Navy League Branch is providing small ‘thank you’ cards but we still refer to the fundraiser as ‘tagging’ in general terms.
Why do we Participate?
-
This event is a great opportunity for our cadets to be visible in the community – many Londoners are not aware that we have a Sea Cadet Corps in the city.
-
The Navy League of Canada is a Registered Chairity so Cadets will earn 4 Community Service Hours for Secondary School and participation also counts toward the required Community Service that is part of our Phase Training.
-
In just one or two days, a significant amount of donations can be received and these funds are key to the support provided by the Navy League Branch to our Corps and also to the Navy League Corps (9-12 year olds) who are also participating.
Safety, Supervision, Supplies and Snacks:
-
Cadets will be spread out over 8 locations (No Frills, Metro, Farm Boy, Walmart, Giant Tiger and Canadian Tire Wellington)
-
For enhanced safety, we are asking that each cadet be accompanied by their parent
-
Our staff will be visiting each location frequently to check on everyone and restock supplies/snacks as needed
-
Parents and cadets are asked to meet at our building at the start time below to receive supplies, snacks and your location for the morning or afternoon
Timing:
10 Cadets – Saturday Morning: 09:00 AM to 1:00 PM or
10 Cadets – Saturday Afternoon 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM or
10 Cadets- Sunday Morning 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM or
10 Cadets – Sunday Afternoon 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
We are aiming to have 10 cadets for each of the above times. Please reserve your day/time if possible by sending us an email to 37sea@cadets.gc.ca with your preferred date, time and location (we will do our best to assign locations as requested).
If you are available for less than the full times listed above – we would still appreciate any participation to fill these spots and can accommodate as needed.
Thank you!
